Privacy notice
This page explains what Revelation News stores about a reader with an account, why, and how to get rid of it.
What is collected
First name, last name and email address. If you use saved stories, we also keep the folder name and icon you choose and a snapshot of each saved story. No phone number, address or payment details. Google shares only your basic account identity.
What it is used for
Keeping you signed in, sending the verification code and password reset links, and nothing more. Marketing email is a separate, unticked box — creating an account is not consent to it, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who else sees it
Nobody. Data is not sold or handed to advertisers. Two processors are involved because the site cannot run without them: the database host that stores the account, and the email service that delivers the verification code.
How long it is kept
For as long as the account exists. Verification codes die within minutes and expired sessions are deleted. Deleting the account also deletes its saved folders and stories.
Contributions and payment data
If you choose to support us, the entire payment happens on PayPal's own site. This site never sees, transmits or stores card numbers, security codes or bank details, and no card form is hosted here. PayPal acts as an independent data controller for that transaction under its own privacy policy. From PayPal's reports we can see the contributor name, the email address used, the amount and the date — nothing more. That record is kept only as long as tax and accounting rules require, and is never used for marketing.
Legal basis
Account data is processed to perform the service you asked for; security and anti-abuse measures rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site working; marketing email is sent only with your separate, freely given consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Contribution records are kept to meet legal accounting obligations.
Your rights
You can see and delete your account at any time from your account page; deletion is immediate and permanent. Readers in the EU, the UK and other regions with equivalent laws can additionally request access to, correction of, or a copy of their data, object to processing, or complain to their local data protection authority.
